Pierre Gastaldello, 33 years old, based in Marseille, sources French natural wine and exports to the United States. Launched in 2017, Bobo Selections was born out of a desire to embrace a larger cause. Beyond the palate, our wines speak to a sustainable worldview. They fit into a life of transparent, intentional, soulful practices and consumption that our farmers embody and that complements our own identity. We often talk about wine and its quality, but this is just a detail compared to what we are trying to support. The people we source behind the bottle, what we eat, what we do and most importantly what music we listen to. Music is extremely close to wine, when you source it, when you share it, you remember it.

A decade ago, when I was a semi-degenerate English teacher in Thailand, I befriended my local coconut seller. He took me on whisky-fueled road trips to coconut plantations and taught me to crack them open with a cleaver. Many years passed since those exciting times. Back in New York, I had a series of jobs and was never happy. Then last winter I was in Thailand attending a friend’s wedding. I was sitting on the beach, staring out at the turquoise sea and lush green mountains on the other side of the bay, eating coconut ice cream out of a halved coconut shell. It occurred to me then that I should do this back in New York. Not just approximate Thai-style coconut milk ice cream, but try to capture that feeling of being someplace special, a place you visited, loved, and wish you could get back to. 

Delphine, a French chef based in London with over ten years of experience in the hospitality industry. Alongside her passion for food, music has always been a big part of her life. Growing up around live shows and countless hours of music listening, her taste reflects a mix of styles that have shaped me. From early reggae, soul, and Latin sounds to modern neo-soul, alt R&B and afrobeats. She enjoys exploring music that deeply resonates. Delphine’s experience in kitchens started from seasonal work in the Alps, purely as a side gig for money. 10 years later she’s still in kitchen and loving the journey.

HUGO Mendoza was raised in the Bronx. He’s done some really cool things for some really cool brands. HUGO now works at Awake NY as the brand director. When asked what that entails, he says “a lil bit of this and a lil bit of that”. In recent years HUGO has grown to love wine and he likes to enjoy a bottle or 3 in the company of good friends, good food and sometimes shitty music (but not his favorite).

Sophia Davila is Latina pastry chef and content creator based in ATL Georgia, who's love of the kitchen led her to culinary school Switzerland. She specializes in pastry and chocolate arts, has worked in restaurants, bakeries, resorts and most recently is exploring the world of popups, because in her words "who needs sleep". She's adamant that a good playlist is essential to long hours of prep/service (and dancing) and this playlist was designed to add a bit of "Sazón" to an upcoming pop up.
